All registered voters in Texas may vote in the Primary Runoff Elections.

Major Political Parties in Texas: Minor Parties in Texas:
  • The Texas Libertarian Party state convention will be held April 10-12, 2026, in Abilene, TX.
  • The Texas Green Party holds a convention in every Texas county.  Watch their website for an announcement of a convention to be held in your county.
You do not have to vote for the same candidates in the May 26, 2026, Primary Runoff Election as you did in the Primary Elections on March 3, 2026.

In Texas, the major political parties hold Primary Elections to determine their candidates for the November elections.  Political party Primary Elections were held March 3, 2026.
  • Those candidates who received more than half of the ballots cast in their race won that election and will represent their political party in the November 3, 2026, Election.
  • For those races where there was no winner (no candidate received over 50% of the vote), there will be a runoff election between the two candidates receiving the most votes cast in the March 3, 2026, Primary Elections. The candidate who wins the runoff election will represent their political party in the November 3, 2026, Election.
You do not have to register in advance with the political party in order to vote in the Primary Runoff Election.
  • If you voted in the Republican Party Primary on March 3rd, you may vote in the Republican Party Runoff Election on May 26, 2026.
  • If you voted in the Democratic Party Primary on March 3rd, you may vote in the Democratic Party Runoff Election on May 26, 2026.
  • If you did NOT vote in either political party’s primary on March 3rd, you may vote in either the Republican Party Primary Runoff Election OR the Democratic Party Primary Runoff Election on May 26, 2026.
  • If you vote in a major party’s Primary Election or Primary Runoff Election, you may NOT participate in a minor party’s convention in that same year.
  • If you attend a minor party’s convention, you may NOT vote in a major party’s Primary Election or Primary Runoff Election in that same year.

About one week before Early Voting begins, the League of Women Voters will make its online Voters Guide available at VOTE411.org. At that website:
  • Enter your address.
  • View a personalized Voters Guide that will include only the candidates/issues that will be on your ballot.
    • For races involving candidates in a contested race, the candidates have been asked questions by LWV.  All candidates in the same race were asked the same questions.  The candidates themselves typed in any responses.  Some candidates may have chosen not to participate.
    • For elections involving issues (e.g., bonds, constitutional amendments, charter amendments), LWV has provided information on what people are saying in support of or in opposition to each issue.
  • Whether there are candidates or issues/bonds on your ballot, you may compare information side by side for each race that will be on your ballot.
The  nonpartisan printed Voters Guides for all races in the Primary Election will be available about a week before Early Voting begins.

When the League's printed Voters Guides for Dallas County are ready, they will be available in Richardson at:
