Our Accomplishments During the 2025-2026 Year.

It's been a VERY good year for the League of Women Voters of Richardson!

Voter Service: Besides voter registration events for Richardson and Richardson ISD, LWVR held 2 forums for Richardson ISD Board of Trustees candidates.  We distributed printed Voters Guides for every elections.  Some members of LWVR volunteer with the Dallas County Elections Department to provide voter registration events at natualization ceremonies.
  • The City of Richardson no longer allows the League of Women Voters of Richardson to distribute its nonpartisan, printed Voters Guides in City buildings (such as City Hall, the library, the two recreation centers, or the Senior Center).  We will keep you informed as we determine our way forward.
Social Media:  The number of viewers/followers on all our social media platforms (websiteFacebookInstagram, Threads, and LinkedIn) are up from last year.
  • Follow the League of Women Voters of Richardson on our social media so you won't miss any important election information.
  • Please 'like' and 'share' our posts if you are able.  Help LWVR spread the word!
  • Know that the Richardson League's website, www.lwvrichardson.org, is still your best source for factual, nonpartisan information for EVERY election.
Education and Advocacy:  LWVR continued to support Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and is in the process of reviewing all of its local positions.

Membership:  increased 12% this year!

Finance Drive: was successful.  Thank you!

LWVR Is Reviewing All Its Local Positions

LWVR's Local Program Planning meeting was held on February 11. It was determined that, although there is no need to change our positions, we should review their language and consider revisions that would broaden their application. Our positions may be found here
Three local positions (1, 2, and 7) have already been reviewed. The schedule to review the remaining positions via Zoom at 7pm:
  • June 25 -  Position 3: Land Use and Urban Design
  • August 27 -  Position 4: Child Care in Richardson
  • September 24 -  Position 5: Public Health Care Services in Richardson & Position 6: Video Recording City Council and RISD Trustee Meetings
  • October 22 - Review proposed changes for all 7 positions
Although only LWVR members can vote to make changes to a position, we invite the larger community to attend a meeting to give input. We welcome your insight in proposing updated language for our positions.

LWVR Spoke to the Girl Scouts

In May, Girl Scout Troop 5248 of Spring Creek Elementary School in Richardson ISD invited LWVRichardson to speak about the History of Women's Right to Vote. In their effort to find ways to participate in the National Girl Scout "Promote the Vote" initiative, they hosted us at an afternoon discussion during their regular meeting

The Girl Scouts (future voters) were enthusiastic and asked great questions. They were excited to be able to help "Promote the Vote" by helping adult family members verify their voter registration status. Each girl was given a QR code to use at their family Memorial Day events to check registration status at the Texas Secretary of State website. The troop was also given a packet of Voters Guides for the upcoming primary runoff to distribute to the Spring Creek Homeowners Association Memorial Day Picnic.

We look forward to working with the Girl Scouts for future Voter Registration activities in the fall.

LWVRichardson will be glad to come and speak to your group and/or register voters.  Just contact us!
