Coronavirus Election Updates

Dallas County has announced it will not be administering local elections in May, and recommends local jurisdictions postpone their elections to November. By proclamation, the Governor is allowing local jurisdictions to move their 2020 elections from May to Tuesday, November 3. Local jurisdictions have the option to hold their elections in May and administer them on their own, or postpone to November.

The Richardson ISD Board of Trustees Election for District 3 and at-large Place 6, originally scheduled for May and postponed to November, has been canceled.  There are no longer any contested races on the ballot.

On April 6, 2020, an Election Advisory was issued to Texas election officials by Keith Ingram, Director of Elections for the Texas Secretary of State.  Several pandemic-related voting procedures are covered in this advisory, including:

  • Voting by mail

  • Late voting due to recent sickness or physical disability

  • Voting at main early voting location (hand delivery of mail ballot)

  • Curbside voting
